Braveheart Rukhsana Kausar a girl from Rajouri, Kashmir daring act of standing up to terrorists at her village home and killing one of them has drawn praise from across the country. Rukhsana becomes the real star of India today. A great Inspiration for Indian Women.
The BJP hailed Rukhsana, with party leader Shahnawaz Hussain saying: "Rukhsana's act is a reply to all those who think they can get the support of Muslims in the name of jihad."
Her immensely brave act has turned young Rukhsana Kausar into a heroine and people now see her as a fighter against the "zulm" or atrocities of militants. She had taken on a group of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists who barged into her house late night, snatched an AK-47 from one intruder and shot him dead.
Rukhsana is full of smiles at her house in Upper Kalsi in Shahdhara Sharief of Rajouri district, as she is besieged by television reporters asking her how she did it.
The Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation, an organisation of nomadic tribes, has urged President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram to honour Rukhsana with Bharat Ratna.
"Rukhsana should be honoured with the highest gallantry award," the letter said. They urged the central Government to "recognize this rarest, unmatched and extraordinary act of courage and bravery of the fearless young Gujjar girl from a tribal nomadic Muslim family who overpowered a top terrorist of Lashkar, snatched his weapon and, without ever having handled a gun, shot him dead, whereupon the other terrorists ran away".
