look at some of the controversies and scandals that have plagued the Miss World contest.
1960: Norma Gladys Cappagli from Argentina almost got disqualified from Miss World when it was reproted that she was into drinking. The matter was settled later on.
1965: Miss Britain Lesley Langley was crowned Miss World this year, but she was in news for all the wrong reasons. Langley had posed nude for a tabloid that year, but she was not dethroned.
1969: Same story was repeated four years later when Sweden's Eva Von Ruber-Staier, who won the crown that year also posed nude for a photo shoot. She too was not dethroned.
1973: Marjorie Wallace from United States won the Miss World crown this year. Sadly Wallace had to return it because she was accused of dating too many high-profile men. The crown was not passed on to the runner up.
1974: It was just four days that Helen Morgan from UK had won the crown, but her conscience didn't allow her to keep it for long. She revealed to the whole world that she was a single mother.
1980: Miss world winner Gabriela Brum of Germany was forced to return the crown as it was discovered that she had posed naked for a magazine.
1998: Just days after her 1998 crowning, Israel's Linor Abargil revealed that she had been raped only two months before the pageant.
