23 year old employee of
Satyam Computer allegedly committed suicide fearing that he may lose his job in Chennai, a police said.
Vishwa Venkatesan, hailing from Salem, consumed poison. He was referred to the General Hospital where he died, they said.
Fear of losing his job drove him to take the extreme step, they said. Venkatesan had earlier also made similar attempts after the scam broke out early this month but was saved due to the timely action, police added.
The victim, stayed overnight at his friend's
room in suburban Tambaram on January 13 and left for his home in Agaram in North Chennai yesterday morning.
While travelling in a bus, he consumed poison. As he swooned on reaching home, he was rushed to the Government General Hospital for treatment.
Acting on information, Sembium police recorded dying declaration of Viswa who confessed to consuming poison fearing job loss in the wake of fall of Satyam Computers, while travelling in the bus.
The body was handed over to his relatives after post mortem.
Viswa, hailing from Salem, had made a similar attempt a few days back, but was warned against taking the extreme step.
