Ranbir Kapoor, who was to perform at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in June, has now backed out of the show. "Ranbir had given a verbal commitment a few months ago that he would be performing to his hit songs from
Saawariya and
Bachna Ae Haseeno at the Iifa night. It was going to be his first-ever awards show performance but he has backed out now."
Ranbir apparently backed out because he did not want to reveal his new look for his forthcoming film with Yash Raj being directed by Shimit Amin. "Ranbir has a bearded-look for this film Rocket Singh — India's Best Salesman and he doesn't want people to see it too soon and kill the curiosity surrounding the film,".
Ranbir has been a hot favourite for award show organisers because of his growing popularity among the younger crowd but he has been shooting down many lucrative offers coming his way to perform at such events. Unfortunately just when he had finally committed to one, he gets a valid excuse to back out.
"This year the IIFA night will be hosted by
Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh."
