Sanjay Dutt's declaration of "I voted for my sister Priya Dutt", after coming out of the polling booth. His wife Maanyata Dutt echoed the same words.
It is quite a turn after Sanju Baba openly blamed her party for his father's death and became the general sceretary of the Samajwadi Party. The tension between Sanju-Maana and the sisters began before he joined the opposition party. Sanju even questioned Priya using the Dutt name in stead of her husband's name. Sisters Priya and Namrata were not invited to Sanju's first aniversary bash in February. So this vote of confidence for Priya from the husband and wife seems like a olive branch.
Sanjay Dutt says he could vote for Priya without hesitation, "as there is no Samajwadi Party candidate in Bandra. If there was, there would have been a problem."
Maanyata is more vocal. "I believe in candidates. If voting for one person is for the betterment of my constituency, why shouldn't I vote for Priya? It's most important that I vote for a candidate, especially my family, whom I know than someone I don't know. I have never had any problems with Sanju's sisters but always considered them to be like my own family. Nor have I ever spoken against them. To me, Sanju's sisters and family is a priority over and above everything else."
Namrata Dutt says, I wouldn't like to comment on Sanjay and Maanyata's voting for Priya. I can't say I am happy or sad... I have no emotions in me. I can only speak for my husband and daughter Saachi. I was very excited to vote for my sister. I am very proud to vote for Priya as is my family.
